About WAJ Code of Ethics

WAJ (WAJPK.com) is an independent, transparent, responsible, and public-interest oriented journalistic platform. Our aim is to promote journalism based on truth, accuracy, balance, transparency, and public trust. This Code applies to all editorial activities, reporters, editors, contributors, photographers, video producers, and social media teams of WAJ.

1. Truth & Accuracy

• We verify information from strong sources before publication.
• Estimates, assumptions, or speculation are never published as news.
• Corrections are made promptly, clearly, and prominently.
• We avoid sensational words, titles, or thumbnails.

2. Impartiality & Fairness

• Editorial process is free from political, religious, racial, social, or economic bias.
• We present multiple perspectives wherever possible.
• We avoid unsubstantiated allegations or suspicious portrayals.
• No journalist works on news with potential conflicts of interest.

3. Public Interest Journalism

• Prioritize reporting on topics affecting societal welfare, rights, transparency, and improvement.
• Pressure from institutions, political parties, or interest groups does not affect editorial decisions.
• Exposing attempts to hide public information is our responsibility.

4. Sources — Anonymity, Protection & Transparency

• Strict confidentiality for sources, especially those at risk.
• Anonymity is used only when verification is impossible otherwise.
• References, data, and statements are cited transparently.
• Fabricated or non-existent sources are strictly forbidden.

5. Human Dignity & Sensitivity

• Extremely sensitive reporting on violence, sexual crimes, children, or suicide.
• Care in publishing identity, images, or personal details of affected individuals.
• No offensive language, stereotyping, or hate material against religious, racial, or linguistic groups.
• No derogatory words targeting women, disabled, or minorities.

6. Ethical Visual Journalism

• Images/videos must be authentic, accurate, and contextual.
• No editing that alters reality.
• Sensitive scenes (corpses, blood, violence) are not overused.
• Images revealing identities used only if public interest is justified.

7. Conflict of Interest

• No activity affecting professional independence.
• No participation in political campaigns, commercial ads, or state propaganda.
• No gifts, travel, or perks that affect editorial freedom.

8. Ads, Sponsored Content & Editorial Freedom

• Advertising or sponsorship does not influence editorial policy.
• Sponsored content is clearly labeled.
• Editorial decisions are never changed for payment.
• WAJ is not responsible for ad content; editorial content remains fully independent.

9. Social Media Conduct

• Reporters and editors follow editorial ethics on social media.
• No hate, political campaigns, unverified info, or falsehoods.
• Clear distinction between personal opinion and editorial line.

10. Corrections & Accountability

• Errors are corrected promptly and transparently.
• Major corrections are highlighted at the end of news.
• Readers can complain about incorrect/offensive content.
• All complaints are reviewed independently.

11. Transparency

• Sources, perspectives, and objectives are clear.
• Modification/update time is shown when content is edited.
• Any potential conflict of interest is disclosed.

12. Respect & Responsibility towards Readers

• Comments must be civil; hate/personal attacks deleted.
• Complaints, suggestions, and emails taken seriously.

13. National Interest & Sensitive Issues

• Special care for national security, religious sensitivity, court cases, protection of minorities, children, and sexual crime reporting.
• All reporting complies with Pakistani law and journalistic ethics.

14. Revision of Code of Ethics

• Code of Ethics may be updated from time to time.
• New versions published on WAJPK.com take effect immediately.

Waj (WAJPK.com) ایک آزاد، شفاف، ذمہ دار اور عوامی مفاد پر مبنی صحافتی پلیٹ فارم ہے۔ ہمارا مقصد سچائی، درستگی، توازن، شفافیت، اور عوامی اعتماد پر مبنی صحافت کو فروغ دینا ہے۔ یہ ضابطۂ اخلاق WAJ کی تمام ادارتی سرگرمیوں، رپورٹرز، ایڈیٹرز، کنٹری بیوٹرز، فوٹوگرافرز، ویڈیو پروڈیوسرز اور سوشل میڈیا ٹیم پر لاگو ہوتا ہے۔

1. سچائی اور درستگی

• معلومات کو شائع کرنے سے پہلے ممکنہ حد تک مضبوط شواہد یا ذرائع سے تصدیق کی جاتی ہے۔
• اندازہ، قیاس آرائی یا مفروضے کو “خبر” کے طور پر شائع نہیں کیا جاتا۔
• غلطی یا کمی سامنے آنے کی صورت میں فوری، واضح اور نمایاں طور پر اصلاح کی جاتی ہے۔
• ایسے الفاظ، عنوانات یا تھمب نیلز سے گریز کیا جاتا جو سنسنی خیزی پیدا کرتے ہوں یا حقیقت کو مسخ کرتے ہوں۔

2. غیر جانب داری اور توازن

• ادارتی عمل سیاسی، مذہبی، نسلی، معاشرتی یا معاشی تعصب سے پاک رہتا ہے۔
• ہر موضوع پر ممکنہ حد تک مختلف زاویے شامل کیے جاتے ہیں۔
• کسی بھی فریق کو بغیر ثبوت کے الزام یا مشکوق انداز میں پیش نہیں کیا جاتا۔
• کسی بھی مفاداتی تعلق کی صورت میں صحافی متعلقہ خبر پر کام نہیں کرے گا۔

3. عوامی مفاد اور ذمہ دار صحافت

• رپورٹنگ ایسے موضوعات پر ترجیحاً کی جاتی ہے جو معاشرے کی فلاح، حقوق، شفافیت اور بہتری سے متعلق ہوں۔
• سرکاری اداروں، سیاسی جماعتوں یا کسی مفاداتی حلقے کا دباؤ ادارتی فیصلوں کو متاثر نہیں کر سکتا۔
• عوامی معلومات چھپانے والے رویوں یا غلط بیانی کی نشاندہی کرنا WAJ کی ذمہ داری ہے۔

4. ذرائع — گمنامی، تحفظ اور شفافیت

• ذرائع کی رازداری کی سخت حفاظت، خاص طور پر خطرے والے ذرائع۔
• گمنام ذرائع کا استعمال صرف اس صورت میں جب معلومات کی تصدیق کا دوسرا راستہ نہ ہو۔
• ہر حوالہ، ڈیٹا یا بیان ممکنہ حد تک شفاف طریقے سے ذکر کیا جاتا ہے۔
• فرضی یا غیر موجود ذرائع کا استعمال ممنوع ہے۔
